The House with Silence and Aroma

Residential House Designed by Cheng Feng Wang

How to design this project honestly with the consideration of the female owner’s taste and the living habits are the designer’s main idea. The most special part of this project is the combination of the concepts of Chinese traditional ‘feng shui’ and modernist senses in the space; as well as how to design the comprehensive space by the proper arrangement of existing structures. The designer has offered the moderate strategies to response these challenges, and created special features for this project.

The House with Silence and Aroma, designed by Cheng Feng Wang, is a residential house that beautifully blends Chinese traditional 'feng shui' concepts with modernist sensibilities. The main focus of the design was to cater to the female owner's taste and living habits, resulting in a space that is both aesthetically pleasing and functional.

One of the unique features of this design is the clever use of curves. Wang believes that while God creates curves, humans create lines. By incorporating curves in the entrance room, ceiling, and the shapes of shelves, the design creates a sense of extension and avoids any feelings of suppression or harshness. This blending of curves with the modernist elements seamlessly integrates the areas for placing 'feng shui' artifacts into the overall spatial composition.

The use of materials in this design is also noteworthy. The shiny stone wall serves as a noble backdrop, while the wooden elements add a sense of stability and warmth to the space. The white slabs with different widths function as hidden cabinets, increasing the spatial sense of multi-level and providing a delicate and silent ambiance that reflects the owner's personality.

With a total area of 93.25 square meters, this design showcases the designer's ability to harmonize the relationships between human sensations and nature. It is a testament to the designer's aesthetic perspectives and design skills, creating a space that gratifies the client's preferences while embodying multiple values of design.

The House with Silence and Aroma was completed in 2018 in Hsinchu City, Taiwan. The design project faced challenges in balancing aesthetic compositions with environmental protections. Through innovative experiments and the integration of technology and lifestyle, the design successfully achieved uniqueness, originality, and a harmonious blend of tangible and intangible values.

This exceptional design was recognized with the Iron A' Design Award in 2019 in the category of Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design. This award is given to well-designed, practical, and innovative creations that meet professional and industrial requirements. The House with Silence and Aroma stands as a testament to the designer's skill and aesthetics, contributing to a better world through its fulfillment and positive impact.
